Capturing a Bond, Capturing a Feeling

Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, constantly stealing pieces of my heart with every new horse that graced my life. Each year I would have new photos taken with the newest mount I was showing. I know just as well as you how special our horses become to us. They become our best friends, secret keepers, confidants and therapists when we need a break from the world. Our equestrian lifestyle is very unique, we all vary in age, background, disciplines and competition levels but we all have one special thing in common, we love our horses!

My favourite part of being an equine photographer is getting to meet so many amazing equestrians and their horses and seeing your interactions, witnessing just how much love you share. When booking a session with me you gain a new friend cheering you on! I like to create a relaxing, worry-free environment during your session having both you and your horse at ease. Direction is given when needed to create lifestyle images but I love allowing you to interact with your horse naturally, as you would if you were alone in their stall or out in the field.

Nicole & Cici

My experience working with Andree-Anne was very fun and positive. She took the time to scout out the location and get to know me and my animals beforehand. I had the most fun laughing and smiling with my horse creating memories that will last a life time. I was lucky to have shared this experience with Andree-Anne, as she captured special moments between my animals that I will never forget. I will forever cherish this experience and these photos. Thank you AA!

Maegan & Scout

I am so glad I chose Andree-Anne to photograph my mare and I. Andree-Anne has a fantastic eye and a knack for capturing beautiful candid photos. There were many great shots, it was hard to choose my favorites! I was a bit nervous going in, as I had never done photos like this before. But she kept us at ease during the shoot, while also giving directions to get a great photo. She is friendly and patient – even when the horse is fidgety and can get their attention for a nice picture.

Sadly, we unexpectedly lost my mare several months after the shoot and having these photos is one of the best gifts. They capture memories and a bond that is very special to me.

I can’t recommend her enough and look forward to working with her again in the future.

Donna & Chase

Andree-Anne is a true professional and has the ability to transform photos into stunning works of art and does so with true passion and attention to detail. I had Andree-Anne out for a photo shoot of my beloved equine partner and myself. Not only was she patient and creative, she walked all over our 26 acre farm to capture the right moment and sunset. Her creativity and photographic eye for producing stunning photos are top notch. Thank you for your amazing work Andree-Anne, the special moments you captured in the pictures will be cherished for many years to come. I would highly recommend.

Frequently asked question

How do i prepare my horse for my session?

Your horse should look his or her best for this big day, thoroughly cleaned as if you were about to step into the show ring. Upon booking your session you will receive access to my preparation guide.

How do i prepare for my session?

Preparing for your session can seem a bit stressful but I am here to answer all your questions and ease you into the process as best I can. All my clients get access to my preparation guide with helpful tips on choosing your outfit!

How do I receive my images?

Your images will be sent to you by a private gallery that can be accessed via email. From there you can download all your social media sized images and order any prints or canvases of your favourites! Gallery’s are live for 30 days before expiring, I do ask that you save all of your images in multiple areas before your gallery expires. Gallery’s can be brought back online for a $50 archival retrieval fee. This can be done anytime after your session if you are looking to purchase more images from your session.

How Do I pay for my session?

Sessions require a 20% non-refundable retainer to hold the date. This needs to be paid the day of signing your contract. This can be done by credit card or e-transfer. As for the remaining amount, that must be paid following the completion of your session either by cash, credit card or e-transfer. If paying digitally please do so before your session.

why aren’t printing rights included?

I completely understand that you would like the freedom to print your images as you please so printing rights can be purchased after your session. I don’t include printing rights as most quick print company’s are not suited for the quality of image provided and can lead to muted or over saturated images. I can not uphold the quality these printers provide. This is why I advise you have your prints and canvases done through me so I can have my master labs print the high quality images you deserve that last a lifetime!

is travel included?

Unless brought up in our conversation prior to signing your contract, travel is indeed included. If not included we will discuss a travel fee to head out to your chosen location. I create a flat rate for sessions out of province that include all travel fees in the portrait session price.

Can you edit that out?

Editing included in your session includes removing cuts, scrapes or scars as well as any spit stains your horse may have caused. Additional edits are offered but will only be done at an additional cost. For horses that are brought out dirty I will be unable to edit out unless an additional editing cost is paid.

what location and time is best?

The majority of sessions are completed on the property you’re boarded on, this just makes it easier on your horse since it is a property that they know well. Don’t worry if your facility isn’t designer, I will be able to find spots that will work perfectly for us to get beautiful images. If you would rather have your session done on another property, I would be happy to meet you at your desired location. The best lighting is during golden hour at sunrise and sunset. I normally do only 1 to 2 sessions a day. Each session takes up the majority of time during this golden hour which lasts a maximum of 2 hours. I do not recommend having a session midday as this creates harsh shadow lines on you and your horse and is not ideal lighting. Only on overcast days would I recommend booking a midday session.
